Nexo y Anexo, 80m2 Gallery in cooperation with Corriente Alterna, April 2011

Curated by Carlos García Montero

Nexo is an approach to the unveiling of layers within the human being. Dimensions of the human experience are represented through drawings, paintings and installations, and imperceptible characteristics are manifested in the material world. These parallel dimensions become tangible and are intensified through the explosive vivacity of urban parties and the scene frequented by young people.
The masks represent a core element of the composition of this urban being, which through parties is able to incarnate a new being that recognizes itself as the true one, following the most ancient traditions and rituals of the human being.
The Candelaria Carnival in Puno and electronic parties - in cosmopolitan cities such as Berlin and Lima - emerge as venerable ritual spaces the different systems that operate in the human being are developed tacitly. Alcanzando intensamente la realización. The blood system, the nervous system, the reproductive system and the bone mass conspire in a unique moment, un quiebre that results in a paralysis of the intense neural activity of the human psyche and cedes to the trance. An altered state of consciousness that allows the possession of the human being by the true being.
The possessed characters represented by the artist Adriana Ciudad embody the enlightenment of our time in an urban and everyday context as a part of a ritual.
